The Service Department Director is expected to:

  • Oversee, manage and direct all employees of the Service Department to achieve maximum production while controlling costs and setting and obtaining profit objectives.
  • Represent our company with the highest standards of ethics and moral.
  • Seek ways to improve business operations efficiencies and customer service.
  • Support and mentor the efforts of other employees to be successful;

Primary Duties:

1. Ensure maximum production, customer service and profitability.

  • Oversee and manage the production of the Service Department.
  • Effectively communicate with the parts department, sales department, customers, and team members regarding the service department commitments in order to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Achieve or exceed group standards such as quality of service, gross profit and applicable benchmarks.
  • Communicate with appropriate personnel regarding any issue which may cause a delay.
  • Budget, review and approve all controllable expense factors.
  • Approve all requisitions for materials and supplies.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times and adhere to all OSHA/EPA requirements.
  • Perform all job duties requested from management.

2. Develop employees.

  • Effectively hire, train and manage qualified team members in coordination with the HR department.
  • Communicate clear expectations with each employee in the service department.
  • Communicate and enforce dealership policies and procedures.
  • Conduct frequent performance conversations with staff.

3. Operate with integrity.

  • Set an example of positive attitude and professionalism, including a neat, orderly and safe work environment.
  • Resolve customer complaints and adjustments.
  • Demand the highest ethical standards from self and others.

Job Qualifications:

  • 7+ years progressive experience in a trailer dealership as a service manager or service assistant manager.
  • Management experience a must.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong people management capabilities
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Experienced in budget management, cost control, and warranty administration.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Maintain valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work environment is in an office by the repair shop near customer trailers. Daily exposure to shop environment such as noise, dust, odors and fumes, chemicals and adhesives is to be expected.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, talk, and listen.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, twist, or assume body positions necessary to inspect a trailer.
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • There is some exposure to weather conditions.
