At ILoca, the semitrailer is an extremely important part of our vocabulary. We focus on trying to give you the best possible transportation options, which usually comes back to semitrailers and semi parts. With this in mind, we would like to give our customers an important history lesson to explain how these wonderful vehicles have come into existence. The semi-truck was invented in 1898 by Alexander Winton, a carmaker, in order to deliver cars to customers. He called the semi-truck and tractor trailer combo an ‘Automobile Hauler’.
Alexander Winton sold his first manufactured semi-truck in 1899. When Winton first started manufacturing cars, he wanted to be able to ship them directly to customers without putting any miles onto the product. He therefore developed a car hauler for use by his company, but soon was selling these car haulers to other manufacturers. Plenty of other manufacturers have since then taken the original design and added to its function, ability and intricacy. Today, trailers continue to assist in hauling vehicles, among many other goods, to their intended destinations.
At ILoca, we offer trailers for sale, short term rental, or long term leasing to continue providing the convenience of transport to the entire continent. Without these wonderful machines, a lot of the items we use today would not be available! We thank the many selfless truck drivers who generously give their time on the road to deliver the products of supply and demand. We sincerely hope this article has given you an interesting tidbit on the history of our trade, and we hope that you thoroughly enjoy the rest of your week! As always, ILoca wishes you safe and happy travels during this time.
