Shop Foreman - Semi-Trailer Service Department
Description

We are looking for an experienced Shop Foreman to lead daily operations in our semi‑trailer service department. This position oversees technicians, manages workflow, ensures repair quality, and helps maintain a safe, efficient, and productive shop environment. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical knowledge, proven leadership experience, and the ability to keep the shop running smoothly day‑to‑day.

 

Responsibilities
  • Assign daily jobs and manage trailer flow in and out of bays
  • Support technicians with diagnostics, troubleshooting, and technical questions
  • Monitor labor efficiency, performance, and job completion times
  • Complete final inspections to ensure repairs meet DOT and company standards
  • Maintain a clean, safe shop environment and enforce safety protocols
  • Coordinate parts needs and ensure supplies are stocked and accounted for
  • Review repair orders for accuracy and provide technical input when needed
  • Assist with estimates, warranty documentation, and customer communication
  • Help develop technician skills through training and mentorship
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
  • 7+ years experience in the semi‑trailer or heavy equipment repair industry
  • 5+ years in a lead, senior technician, or supervisory role
  • Strong mechanical knowledge: brakes, electrical, suspension, air systems, structural repairs
  • Solid understanding of DOT and FMCSA compliance requirements
  • Ability to coach, motivate, and direct a team in a busy shop environment
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with both technicians and office staff
  • Comfortable using computers for work orders, email, and shop software
  • High school diploma or equivalent
